Metro Magazine, 2012

Metro was a formative editorial design project of my early career. I developed the complete visual system of the publication, including page layout, typography, and visual rhythm. The logo was designed before my involvement, and my role was to build a magazine experience around it.

Metro positioned itself ahead of its time. Albania was still cautious about openly discussing subjects such as anorexia, religion, sex, identity, and youth culture. Metro chose to confront these topics with honesty and curiosity. It was also the first magazine to publish an interview with Noizy at a key moment in his rise.

Working with Fatma Haxhialiu as editor in chief was an important creative partnership. Her editorial leadership and journalistic integrity shaped the voice of the project, and I had the opportunity to collaborate with a group of passionate journalists and contributors, who became friends along the way.

The magazine existed at the turning point between print and digital publishing. We released three issues before the market shifted online. Metro remains an urban memory of Tirana, a publication that captured a city in transition and taught me how design can support editorial courage.
